So MANY OPTIONS FOR YOU TO ENJOY

Families pay a $100 annual renewal fee ($150 for the first year) for a full membership that includes voting privileges at our annual members meeting, monthly newsletter, access to our drop in centre, as well as any free weekly, monthly and seasonal programs for family members aged 18 or older.  

Our Drop-In program at the Hub in Bowmanville offers a safe, judgement free gathering space where member families can relax, connect and make your own fun.  Enjoy puzzles, board games, self-serve kitchen and Zen Den. Open weekdays 10 am  – 4 pm.

Games, Gym & Swim – Thursdays (Ajax ) – Work out your board game skills with friends, then work out your muscles with an hour of boxing fundamentals in the gym, cool down with a group swim at the Ajax Rec Centre.

Improv – Mondays
Do you like to laugh? Want to learn how to make friends? Our weekly improv sessions filled with spontaneity and humour.

Arts Connects – Tuesdays
Music & arts for self-expression, social connection, and overall well-being in a fun, active group with your family caregiver.

Bingo & Karaoke – Thursdays
Whether you’re singing your favourite song or dabbing your bingo cards, it’s a great opportunity to socialize in a relaxed & supportive environment.

Gym & Swim – Wednesdays
(Newcastle)
Enjoy a warm-up, your choice of multi-sports, then stretch out with the group. Followed by a swim in the pool.

Games, Gym & Swim – Thursdays
(Ajax )
Work out your board game skills with friends, then work out your muscles with an hour of boxing fundamentals in the gym,  cool down with a group swim at the Ajax Rec Centre. 

Boxing – Fridays
Get fit in a fun & high-energy boxing class led by professional boxing coaches.

5-Pin Bowling – Bi-weekly Fridays

Newcastle) 
Enjoy a couple of rounds of bowling, socialize with friends, and explore our community. This is a volunteer-run program.

Indies – 1st Tuesdays
Through out Durham Region
 
A wildly fun community meetup for independent Autistic self-advocates. AHB plans the event, and a staff member is on-site to welcome participants and help with introductions to new friends.

Games Night – 2nd Tuesdays (Bowmanville) & Wednesdays – offered seasonally
From classic board games to modern party games, there’s something for everyone.  This is a volunteer-run program.

Guys Night  – 3rd Tuesdays 
Dads, sons, & brothers are welcome.  A chance for the guys to connect and socialize with peers. This is a volunteer-run program.

Movie Night – 4th Friday
Get together with friends and enjoy a movie and popcorn at the Hub for a relaxed movie night.

Spring & End of Summer Picnics, Halloween, & Holiday Parties
These are favourites for the whole family with games, food, costumes and talent shows fueling connections within our supportive community.
Don’t forget to pitch in on Earth Day or Plunge in for the Polar Swim each year. 

12-week cooking programs, for Autistic adults and their family caregivers. Recipes and ingredients change with the seasons.

Bake & Take: Breads, Cakes, and Sweets – Mondays
Create a variety of sweets and breads, including cupcakes, muffins, cookies, tarts, and no-bake treats, too.  Enjoy your treats or share with a friend.

Breakfast Club – Tuesdays
Start the day together with pancakes, oatmeal bowls, and fresh-baked treats. Build kitchen skills, explore new flavors, and connect over simple, budget-friendly recipes—all while enjoying good food and great company.

Simple to Spectacular Meals – Tuesdays
Make quick, healthy, and affordable lunches using pantry staples and easy-to-find frozen foods! We will discover how to eat healthy on a budget and make the most of the food items we all have at home.  

Healthy Bites – Tuesdays & Fridays
Create a healthy snack together to replenish our bodies after rec programming. 

Cooking With Friends – Wednesdays
Using countertop appliances, we will learn to make your favorite meal or snack. A hands-on, supportive, cooking environment. Caregivers participate & provide support as needed.

Chop It Like It’s Hot- Thursdays
Build practical cooking skills—from knife work and prep to essential methods like sautéing, roasting, and simmering. Gain confidence to create satisfying meals that focus on building a healthy, balanced plate — all from scratch. Basic comfort with kitchen knives and cutting is strongly suggested.

Supper Club – Fridays (Monthly)
Together we’ll prep, cook, and enjoy some pub-style favourites, then share them in a relaxed, social dining environment with friends. 

Pickleball Pals – Tuesdays
Try your paddle at this fun & friendly court game. No experience required, sense of humour recommended.

Global Chefs – Monthly
Enjoy a culinary adventure exploring the cultural use of herbs, spices, ingredients, and traditional foods; all while relaxing and connecting with other parents.

Batch Cooking – Monthly
A six part series focussed on healthy eating, fast and delicious meals, cost savings. Plan, cook, dine, and take away with friends.  

Care 2 Share – virtual
This program pairs experienced senior parent mentors with younger family caregivers who
are approaching new life transitions to exchange knowledge and provide support.

PEERS
Learn how to make and maintain friendships, start conversations, and understand social cues.

Living Well
Strategies to recognize and reverse patterns of negative thinking.


Two-part series offered monthly on topics that you prioritize, including –

Knowledge Exchange Symposium
Bi-annual event supporting high-school transition aged individuals and their families to connect with service providers and hear stories of adults in the community.

LEAP (Lived Experience Autism Perspective) for Service Providers and Employers 
In-person, virtual and e-learning options.

Summer Palooza – 8 week program $360
The pathway to fun and friendships. Participants are grouped by interests and independence level for a full day of fun, one day per week for eight weeks. * Fully staffed, transfer of care program for participants with support needs. 

Community Respite Mornings – 12 week programs – $120
2 hours each weekday for members to get out of the house, active and sharing new experiences with  your *paid support worker, or family caregiver.
Pick the themed morning that works best for you with Music,  Art, and Multi-sport options.

This highly individualized social program supports Autistic adults to explore community, discover new interests, enhance independence, and find friendships beyond their circle of family support.
